Facial Massage at Home: Hands or Gua Sha?

Woman using a pale pink gua sha stone along her cheek and jawline

At FaceBliss, we work with facial massage in our Hollywood studio and bring that hands-on approach into our skincare. At home, you can start with something simple: clean hands, a product that gives you comfortable glide, and a few unhurried minutes.

You do not need a gua sha tool to begin. We recommend learning how a gentle hand massage feels first, then adding a tool if you enjoy it. Here is how we would help you choose between the two and build your FaceBliss routine.

Start with your hands

Your hands make it easy to feel when you are pressing too hard or when the product has started to absorb. You can pause, lighten your touch and change your pace without learning how to hold a tool at the same time.

For your first at-home routine, focus on comfortable movement across your face and neck. There is no need to reproduce every technique from a professional appointment. Keep it gentle, and avoid working over irritated or broken skin.

When to choose gua sha

A facial gua sha tool gives you a different way to guide your movements. If you enjoy the ritual of using a tool and are comfortable following its instructions, it can be part of your routine. You still need glide, a light touch and a clean surface.

We do not ask you to choose a permanent side. You might prefer your hands on a weekday and a tool when you have more time. What matters in our routine is that your movements feel controlled, not forceful.

What can an at-home facial massage do for your routine?

It gives you time to slow down and work with your skincare instead of applying it in a hurry. Our products support the skincare part: oil for the massage step, followed by a leave-on serum formulated for hydration and a smoother-looking finish.

A short home massage is different from a full appointment with our therapists. We do not promise that a tool or a few minutes of massage will permanently reshape your face. If you want a tailored session and help choosing a technique, visit our FaceBliss Hollywood studio.

How often should you massage your face?

Our Face Oil routine is a 3–7 minute massage, suggested 3–5 times a week. Start with a schedule that feels comfortable for your skin and easy to maintain. More pressure or a longer session is not the goal.

If your skin feels irritated, skip the massage. After a recent cosmetic procedure, follow your treating professional’s instructions before restarting. Those individual instructions come before any general at-home routine.

Two ways to use FaceBliss at home

For an oil massage: apply 3–5 drops of FaceBliss Face Oil to clean skin. Massage your face and neck gently for 3–7 minutes, using your hands or your tool according to its instructions. Rinse off the oil, then apply FaceBliss Peptide Serum to clean skin and leave it on.

For a serum-only massage: apply our Peptide Serum to clean skin and massage gently while it provides comfortable glide. Leave it on afterward—no rinsing needed. Keep this version brief as the serum absorbs.

If you are looking for gua sha oil, our Face Oil guide explains the product step in more detail. For your leave-on routine, read how we use Peptide Serum.

Bring the FaceBliss ritual home. Our Face Oil + Peptide Serum Bundle gives you both the massage step and the leave-on care that follows.
